This position is for a Corporate Accounting Supervisor to work at EAH Corporate in San Rafael, CA. This is a hybrid remote position. Qualified Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent academic training a plus. Must have 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment, 2+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience and 1+ years of supervisory experience. Must have computer proficiency skills in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software. Salary range: $90,000.00 to $144,000.00 per year; hiring range for new employees is generally $90,000.00 to $117,000.00 per year, DOE.

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Under general supervision, performs non-routine accounting duties in the areas of accounts payable and accounts receivable and routine accounting duties in the areas of maintaining general ledger, analysis of accounts, preparation of monthly financial statements/reports and bank reconciliations. Performs specialized accounting calculations, posting and other accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and ensures accuracy and timeliness of internal and external financial reporting including monthly financial reviews.
  • Supervises accurate and timely processing of monthly accounts payable expenditures including but not limited to document review, vendor set-up and maintenance, governmental reporting, standard invoices, petty cash reimbursements, and check generation and distribution.
  • Under general supervision, manages and performs various account payables/receivables activities including developing, implementing and maintaining the AP/AR systems, policies and procedures; compiling, analyzing and reporting accounting data for management reports and decision-making purposes.
  • Maintains, analyzes and reconciles general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank accounts for properties assigned.
  • Prepares each month’s accounting financial statements and required reports in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with EAH policies.
  • Processes posting journal entries.
  • Reconciles financial records of balance sheet accounts (i.e. assets, liabilities), income and expenses.
  • Analyzes and reconciles discrepancies and accounting issues.
  • Supervises the functional areas of Accounts Payable reporting and control for assigned properties.
  • Responds to vendors, auditors, and employee inquiries regarding invoices, expenses check requests.
  • Supervises monthly accounting AP close cycle.
  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing the resolution of accounts payable issues and discrepancies for assigned properties.
  • Tracks all replacement reserve expenses for property manager release requests.
  • Monitors cash deposit/incoming wire receipts and update cash balances on a daily basis.
  • Oversees the AP staff in preparing, verifying, producing and mailing of year-end 1099 forms for properties assigned.
  • Assists Accounting Manager, as needed.
  • Prepares annual backup support schedules for auditors and storage files.
  • Actively participates in EAH’s safety program.
  • Actively participates in required training.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for directing the work of one or more Accounting Clerks. With the Accounting Manager, hires, trains, supervises, motivates and develops accounting clerk staff; manages schedules and workflow; assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations; provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Time is spent in EAH central office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education – Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent academic training a

Experience

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment.
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping/accounting
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience
  • Computer proficiency skills in Microsoft Office applications and accounting
