This position is for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to work at EAH Corporate located in San Rafael, CA. This is a hybrid-remote position. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; CPA preferred. 1.5 years of high-level accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment. Minimum of 3 years of management experience. Salary range: $250k/year to $400k/year; hiring range for new employees is generally $250k/year to $325k/year DOE. Please note an offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate and the current salary level of individuals working at EAH in a similar role.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Directs and oversees financial administration and planning including, but not limited to, financial policy development and implementation, management of accounting systems, budget planning and implementation, risk management and insurance, purchasing, taxation, short-and long-term forecasting, and strategic planning for EAH.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops and implements effective accounting strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Establishes appropriate internal systems to support financial and business operations consistent with the company’s growth and reporting requirements.
  • Reviews and analyzes the organization’s accounting operation; establishes, develops, and /or recommends economic objectives and policies to management.
  • Assists senior management in developing short and long-term goals and objectives for the corporation.
  • Contributes to company’s short-and long-range planning, identifying areas of possible growth, and expansion.
  • Ensures that policies are in accordance with evolving regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of financial information and control systems, including general ledger, budgeting, cost allocation, and other subsystems.
  • With Accounting Manager, manages and oversees preparation of Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flows and surplus cash.
  • Oversees insurance function to assure company’s assets are safeguarded from all possible exposure.
  • Coordinates preparation of corporate budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinates tax reporting requirements. Works with external accountants.
  • Coordinates the annual audit and ensures accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAO and government regulations.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
  • Maintains and manages department budget and corporate budget.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Along with Accounting Manager, reviews and approves company invoices and expense reports. Develops corporate inventory controls, purchasing and central purchasing systems.
  • Directs budget preparation, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets.
  • Oversees hiring and succession planning for the Department. Assesses staffing requirements and fills open positions with qualified candidates.
  • Manages and coordinates annual report preparation and issuance.
  • Actively participates in EAH’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises Accounting Manager and indirectly supervises accounting staff. Hires, trains, supervises, motivates and develops accounting staff; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations; provides minimal day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance; ensures department performance appraisals are completed effectively and as scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; CPA preferred. 1.5 years of high-level accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment. Minimum of 3 years of management experience.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS

EAH Housing conducts criminal background checks on all candidates who have received a conditional job offer. Once you have receive such an offer, you will be required to submit and pass our criminal background requirements. Please be advised that certain roles may also require fingerprinting due to legal requirements.  If onsite housing is a requirement of the position, any household members over 18 years of age who will be living onsite with the candidate must also undergo a criminal background check and tenant screening.  Satisfactory completion of background check and fingerprinting requirements is a requirement of employment with EAH.
